Becoming an engineer was more of a family trend you can say, than my choice as all the four of us are engineers. But to opt for UET was more of my decision because of interest in chemical engineering and I couldn’t make it in NUST in that very discipline. And for that it took a lot to convince my mother as she doesn’t want me to live in hostel rather her preference is some other institute in Islamabad like Nust. But I made up for UET.

Well at start it was like I am somewhere I am not meant to be. The people the environment, that takes time to set me up there.

But these 4 years gave me a life time experience. I have explored myself and made my stay at UET very much creative and productive. It all starts with SPACE, from a volunteer to head of communication and treasury.

SPACE gave me a professional and dynamic team to work with, a platform to practice my creative ideas, a forum to make myself more organized and a family to share all those happy and memorable moments.

Throughout the university life you happen to meet some people who just use to talk about your teeny tiny failures for the sake of criticism and will never appreciate for your big achievements. But there are also some wonderful people around, you just have to see through and yes I am lucky enough to have some lovely people who made my stay at UET delightful.

University life is a golden period of life. It’s neither the place nor the people that tells you how your life would be, it’s you who decides because you are free to choose.

Positive thoughts generate Positive feelings and attract positive life experience. So go on, explore yourself to see how fascinating you are and everything around is.

Being the 1st engineer of my family and a girl made me a vulnerable victim of everyone’s opposition. Still I took my decision and now when I look back I am glad I did.

I was lucky enough (read nerd)  to already research about all the disciplines of engineering before choosing Chemical Engineering as it felt my kind of thing.

UET had always been my top priority as LUMS,  GIKI,  PIEAS and FAST did not offer Chemical Engineering.

Dad refused to let me go to NUST despite being selected and now it seems the best decision I made at that time.

Being at UET, I can proudly say now that it gave me more than I expected in not exactly the same way I wanted but may be better. I on graduation day, am a completely different person than the one who entered this institution.

The most important things that I would like to share are that it showed me the differences in qualities that makes a person good or bad.

It taught me to be satisfied with what you get and thank Allah for it.

Most importantly it gave me an opportunity to gain managerial skills through the platform of SPACE.

All my happy memories are mostly linked to it. All the people that I have worked through this platform are like a family.

I would like to conclude by saying that don’t let your fears overcome you.

Sometimes these are in the form of your envious friends who want to let you down. But do what you want because in the end no one is going to ask who you have been with.  Everyone will ask what are you now!

And if you won’t take risks and try to turn down challenges then you will end up having fears and regrets in your heart.

University life is the best period of life so don’t waste this time doing nothing.

If you are tired of books then go for software. Almost every engineering discipline has its own set and you can literally do wonders on it.

Make friends, plan hang outs and forgive everyone that’s the best way to make these 4 years count.

Good Luck 😊
